Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Ivy.
How does Ivy protect my privacy?
Ivy uses a multi-layered approach to privacy protection. This includes masked email addresses that hide your real email, virtual payment cards that protect your real card numbers, masked phone numbers, AI-powered browsing protection that detects trackers and malicious sites, and biometric authentication that keeps your accounts secure. All data is encrypted with zero-knowledge architecture.
What is a masked email and how does it work?
A masked email is a unique, randomly generated email address that forwards messages to your real inbox. When you sign up for a service, you use a masked email instead of your real one. If that service gets breached or starts sending spam, you can simply disable the masked email - your real address stays private and uncompromised.
Can I use Ivy on multiple devices?
Yes! Ivy supports cross-device sync across all your devices. Install the Ivy browser extension on Chrome, the iOS app on your iPhone, or the Android app on your phone, and all your passwords, masked emails, and settings sync seamlessly. Changes on one device appear instantly on all others.
Is my data safe with Ivy?
Absolutely. Ivy uses zero-knowledge architecture, which means we never have access to your passwords or personal data. Everything is encrypted end-to-end with AES-256 encryption before it leaves your device. We're SOC 2 Type II certified and undergo regular third-party security audits. Your biometric data is processed on-device and never stored on our servers.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
If you cancel your subscription, you'll continue to have access to all premium features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the free tier. Your saved passwords and data remain accessible - you won't lose anything. You can reactivate your subscription at any time to regain premium features.
How do masked payments work?
Masked payments use virtual card numbers that are linked to your funding source but never expose your real card details. You create a virtual card, fund it with a specific amount via ACH or credit/debit card, and use it for online purchases. The merchant only sees the virtual card number. You can set spending limits, pause, or delete cards at any time.
Does Ivy work with all websites?
Ivy works with virtually all websites. The browser extension automatically detects login forms, signup pages, and payment forms to offer password autofill, masked email generation, and virtual card usage. If you ever encounter a site where Ivy doesn't work as expected, you can report it and our team will add support quickly.
Can I customize my masked identities?
Yes, you have full control over your masked identities. You can label masked emails for easy identification, set forwarding rules, enable or disable them individually, and organize them by service or category. Virtual cards can be named, have spending limits set, and be paused or deleted. Your masked phone number can be configured for call and text forwarding preferences.
What is phishing protection and how does it help?
Ivy's phishing protection uses AI to analyze emails, messages, and websites in real-time for signs of phishing attempts. It checks sender authenticity, link destinations, content patterns, and website trust scores. When a threat is detected, you receive an instant alert before you can interact with the malicious content, keeping your credentials and personal data safe.
How do I get started with Ivy?
Getting started is easy. Install the Ivy browser extension from the Chrome Web Store, create your account with biometric verification, and you're protected in under 60 seconds. Ivy will automatically offer to save passwords as you browse, generate masked emails when you sign up for services, and alert you to potential threats. No complex setup required.
